A Labour MP has been requested to depart the Home of Commons for the rest of the day after refusing to withdraw claims that Boris Johnson has “lied” to the nation “over and over”.

Former shadow minister Daybreak Butler instructed MPs that “poor individuals within the nation have paid with their lives as a result of the prime minister has spent the final 18 months deceptive this Home and the nation”.

She added: “I’m disillusioned that the prime minister has not come to the Home to right the document and to right the truth that he has lied to this Home and the nation over and over.”

After being requested to withdraw her remarks quite a few occasions by short-term deputy Commons Speaker Judith Cummins and refusing to take action, Ms Butler was requested to depart the chamber for the rest of the day.
