Queen to meet US President Joe Biden at Windsor Castle | UK News

The Queen will meet US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The meeting will take place on Sunday 13 June during Mr Biden’s trip to the UK for the G7 summit.

It will be his first overseas trip since his election victory last year.

The Head of State met Mr Biden’s predecessor Donald Trump when he made a state visit to the UK in June 2019, in the last days of Theresa May’s premiership.

The President and First Lady Jill Biden sent their condolences to the Queen following the death of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, in April.

Mr Biden and his wife said they were keeping the royal family “in our hearts during this time”.

Buckingham Palace said in a short statement: “The Queen will meet the President of the United States of America and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle on Sunday, 13th June 2021.”

The G7 group of nations are meeting in the Cornish seaside resort of Carbis Bay in June for what will be the 47th summit.

The member country holding the G7 presidency, currently the UK, is responsible for organising and hosting the year’s annual summit.
