The funeral for Conservative MP Sir David Amess, who was stabbed to loss of life, can be held at Westminster Cathedral in London subsequent month.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the chief of Roman Catholics in England and Wales, will preside over the service at 10.30am on 23 November.

The small print for the Catholic MP‘s funeral have been confirmed on Tuesday to MPs, friends and employees who attend Catholic companies in parliament.

It comes after the Commons cleared its diary on Monday final week for MPs to supply tributes to their colleague, earlier than a memorial service at St Margaret’s Church in Westminster.

The Southend West MP was stabbed to loss of life on 15 October whereas assembly constituents in a church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.

Ali Harbi Ali, 25, has been charged with Sir David’s homicide and appeared on the Outdated Bailey final Friday by way of video-link from high-security Belmarsh jail.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) alleges the homicide has a terrorist connection due to its “non secular and ideological” motives.
